Materials & Quality
It all begins
with the right yarn.
Before an AFAFKA sweater becomes a tiny cozy piece for your pup, it begins with something much simpler — choosing the yarn.
This photo captures one of those moments. Our founder, designer and maker Viktoriia Kukhar is in a Candy Yarn store in Lviv, Ukraine, selecting yarn for new AFAFKA designs.
Rows of colors are beautiful, of course — but color is only the beginning. Each yarn is touched, compared and considered before it becomes part of a new piece.
“I want every piece to feel as lovely as it looks. For me, choosing the yarn is already part of making it.
Softness first
Yarn should feel pleasant and comfortable against your dog’s body.
The right texture
We look for fibers that create a beautiful knit while keeping the garment soft and cozy.
Made for little dogs
Thickness, stretch and feel all matter when a garment is designed for a very small body.
Chosen with intention
Not just a pretty color
Small dogs experience their clothes differently from us. A sweater sits close to the body, moves with every little step and becomes part of walks, naps and everyday adventures.
That is why we consider more than appearance when choosing materials. We pay attention to how the yarn feels in the hand, how it behaves when knitted, its thickness, flexibility, texture and the way the finished fabric holds its shape.
Sometimes the perfect shade stays on the shelf because the yarn doesn’t feel right. And sometimes one beautiful little ball of yarn becomes the beginning of an entirely new AFAFKA design.
We choose
Materials are selected with the finished garment in mind — its feel, texture, fit and character.
We test
New yarns become samples first, allowing us to see how the material behaves once it becomes an actual knitted piece.
We make
Each little garment is created by hand in Ukraine with time, attention and care in every row.
From our hands to your little one
Quality begins long before
the first stitch.
For us, materials are not simply supplies. They are where every AFAFKA piece begins — and an important part of what makes each one special.
